Blogossage
I just upgraded this rickety old blog both under and over the hood. After having lifted out a couple of thousand spam comments from my outdated Movable Type installation, I sort of got tired of…crappyness, and made the inevitable switch to WordPress. Some quick notes on the upgrade:
- I use WP plugins Akismet for spam, Simple Tagging for tags and Feedburner Plugin for Feedburner integration. Crazy good stuff.
- I set up permanent redirects from all old permalinks to the new ones, same for the feeds. Now Google won’t forget me, and hopefully not TBL either.
- I rewrote all my dirty old PHP hacks for feeds in glorious Ruby. And they’re up for grabs. There is a script for your Del.icio.us feed, your Last.fm tunes, your Flickr photos, and last but not least, your Plazes presence (which is now visible on my blog)
- Script.aculo.us for eyecandy.
I guess those were the substantial parts. The rest is arcane xhtml/css from the dawn of this century that I merely tweaked …and I can’t really be bothered to clean it all up. After all, the fever that kept me in bed in the last couple of days seems to be leaving me…
