Breaking news: MySpace aquires Photobucket for $250M
At least there are confirmed rumors. Slightly unexpected given that they completely blocked photobucket just a month ago or so. In the meantime, Yahoo shuts down Yahoo Photos in favor of Flickr. Photobucket is still by far the largest photosharing site with a 40% market share. Flickr will probably become number two as Yahoo Photos shuts down, with tough competition from Slide.com. Looks like Flickr missed the MySpace train–haven’t seen any Flickr photos mixed into those chaotic profiles…whereas Slide is all over MySpace. Ben Metcalfe has more comments on the Yahoo Photos shutdown. Umair Haque has some good points on the Myspace+Photobucket deal.
